Yogurt And Restoration

I’ve been intentionally recycling more lately.  And as my kids are in the habit of going through a 32 oz. container of Strawberry Greek Yogurt each week, I’ve had the privilege of helping them by cleaning out what they can’t reach.  A few days back I helped them finish one off…

…I’m a good Mom like that {*wink*}.

As I turned the kitchen faucet on to rinse for recycling, I realized something.  I hadn’t gotten down to the deep parts.  I watched as the final bits of yogurt exited the crannies and cracks and swirled down the drain, gone.

The thought that remained was, I can never reach all of it alone.  There are times in life when we can’t get to the places in us that still need cleaning.  We miss things…

…but He doesn’t.

Today, we get the chance to agree with the heart of God and say “yes” to Him!  He wants to continue the work He started in us.  His job of reducing, reusing, and recycling us back to His image isn’t finished yet.

God doesn’t waste anything and loves to use everything.  That’s His nature.  He won’t change that.  He makes beautiful things, out of E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!  It’s the joy of His heart to love on us and make us new, from a past that was misused, abused, or confused.  We’re always a work in progress and it’s nice to know…

…God always completes the work He started.

If you’re sitting reading today realizing this has crossed your mind, you may be thinking some of these things… You dream of a re-start, to be re-used.  Privately in your mind not telling a soul you hope for a day that your struggles could be used for something meaningful, and you understand now that you need help.

Life is a restoration process.

Now, as I look down I can see.  My yogurt container is clean now.  It’s ready.
I smile.
..   He’s preparing me too.

Today is our preparation.  Take STEPS TO{wards} RESTORATION.

“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”
 Philippians 1:6  {The Message}

Thank you so much Amy. Your post was like a balm for me today, like a fuzzy fireside blanket. “It’s the joy of His heart to love on us and make us new, from a past that was misused, abused, or confused.” I love His words flowing from your fingertips, I love how He whispers to our hearts, I love how He knows what we need and what we desire. He has given me a beautiful gift today in both you and your post. Love love.

I love the concept of being reused by God. That’s so great for us older women. ;-) I know that I’m not done being an instrument of glory. I thought you were going to talk about how the yogurt cleans up the mess we make of our intestines, but that’s kind of a yucky topic, isn’t it? LOL

Just when I think I’ve cleaned up all the mess, God gently shows me there’s a bit more. But he never accuses, never points a finger or drowns me under the running tap water. No, our God runs his finger gently around the edges of my heart and says, “Let’s finish this together!”

I love how you helped me rethink what God’s doing in my life right now.

    Blessings Miss Amy <3
