Are You Hanging On To The Past?

Are you hanging on to the past?  Particularly the stuff that you would like to change or do differently?  Are you blaming someone for what has happened in the past?

Perhaps the person you are blaming isn’t someone else…

…perhaps it’s you.

Give yourself a break.

As a business coach one of the favorite tools I with myself and those I coach is the phrase, “No Plus or Minus Carryover.” When we leave our office at night or when we lay our head on the pillow, we think about the day and what we did or did not accomplish. And then…

…we let it go.

When we wake up in the morning there is no “plus or minus carryover.” We don’t try and make up everything we didn’t get done the day before. We leave yesterday in yesterday. {Excerpt from Confidence: Now is Your Time}

Is it time for you to let yesterday go?

We can stay stuck in the past and we don’t belong there. Be honest with yourself about what has happened but then forgive and let go.

I’ve found the best way to leave the past where it belongs is to start every day by counting my blessings and then moving forward.

Have a small journal by your bed and before you get out of bed write down 3 things you are thankful for that day. Smile, appreciate your life, and then get up. Your day will be off to a great start!
