aim. assignment. calling. quest. purpose; a person’s task, responsibility = MISSION
“Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among ALL peoples.” Psalm 96:3
I love this scripture for two reasons:
First, we are called to “declare His glory” — make known clearly HIS importance and greatness. How do we make this clearly known? By sharing it with others; our personal experience our testimony of faith, His promises, the Truth.
Second, “among ALL peoples” — everyone everywhere! Near and far. In our “world” big and small. In our homes, our families, at work, in friendships, with strangers. Our mission field is our daily living. It can be in another country or in our neighborhoods.
We talked about this today, once again, on our way to school.
I gave my boys specific examples of what this looks like. We talked about missionaries over seas in other countries and local mission work; inner city missions. We talked about people we know who are actively in “missions.” We discussed being a part of mission work, like volunteering for feed my starving children, or giving money to organizations who focus on missions and outreach.
Lastly we discussed our personal opportunities daily to serve, to be a part in “mission” work.
Then my youngest nugget said, “I think we got it, Mom, alright?” And our conversation ended. The final virtue on the 31 day journey. It won’t stop here, that’s for sure. But today’s virtue is our reminder to…
…LET OUR LIGHT SHINE!!
I pray, “Lord, please help my children to develop a desire to see Your glory declared among the nations, Your marvelous deeds among the peoples. And Father, may I be a bright example of this virtue in my life — that others may come to know You better through sharing my experience, strength, and hope that ONLY comes from You. Amen.”
