If you were to look up the word overwhelmed in the dictionary today, you just might see my picture there, seriously. Not only is it the…
…many loads of laundry
…messy kitchen
…kids homework
…taxi driving momma
…father-in-law in the hospital
…its the space that ALL of these things — and more — take up in the brain!
The racing thoughts: thinking about the future, the next day, the upcoming week, the projects that need to be done tomorrow. WOW — so m u c h – overload!
I need to consistently remind myself of this truth: One day at a time. {ok, lately it’s been one minute or moment at a time.}
all I can do IS all I can do
Is anyone else with me on this journey feeling overwhelmed from time to time with “life’s demands”? If so, lets remember…one day at a time — lets strive to do the right thing each moment, SHINE our light and rest each night knowing we’ve done our best. Here we go…
Sound character provides the power with which a person may ride the emergencies of life instead of being overwhelmed by them. Failure is… the highway to success. - Og Mandino

Oh How I feel this Teri!! I mean I really FEEL this! There is so much to do in a day it’s amazing anything gets accomplished. I get so overwhelmed some days. Taking it one day at a time is the only way I stay sane! LOL! Great vlog post Teri! Loved seeing that someone else has a ton of laundry and dirty dishes too! It’s not just me!
I know — WE ARE SO NOT ALONE — comforting in a really nice way, right? Yep, just taking life moment by moment these days…having a to do list helps too!! =) xo
Thanks so much for sharing this today Teri! I feel like that so much and I think we all want to know we are not alone in that.
Thanks for the great reminder….I too try to just think about today.
One of my favorite verses, “do not worry about tomorrow , for tomorrow will bring it’s own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” Matthew 6:34
I love that verse too!! NOPE sistah, we are NOT alone…one day at a time…one day {minute} at a time!! =) xo
This a great phrase and lets you realize to not put to much on your “to do list.” Maybe shorten the list a little so it doesn’t feel quite so overwhelming. I am guilty of putting down all the “projects” I want to get done for the week instead of listing them daily and by the 3rd day I am feeling like I won’t get them all done. And really, if none of them got done I know my family will still be fed a good meal, will still make it to school to learn and will still climb into a warm bed every night with clean bodies and warm hugs from their parents, and really that is enough. By 8:30 everynight I take into account the energy I have spent and the energy I have left and whether spending anymore today on “the list” will get me any farther ahead tomorrow. If I am spent today I allow myself to sit and relax so I can go at it a better mom tomorrow. Laundry, toys, dishes are all visual annoyances that you didn’t get it all done but if you let yourself look past that sometimes it can really change your outlook.
I agree Heather…visual annoyances…are reminders that our “work” is NOT complete. I’m learning to walk more in GRACE — it’s hard sometimes because we of course want to get it all done, BUT then if we can just take a step back and remember the essentials {good meal, warm bed, hugs, parents, love, school on time, etc.} PERSPECTIVE!! =) Love your comment, thank YOU for sharing.
